Business legal plans in Ireland: a guide
A business legal plan is a fixed monthly arrangement with a solicitor’s practice that gives a company ongoing access to legal help for a predictable fee instead of paying by the hour. OnlineLegalServices.ie does not offer legal plans — this page explains how they work so you know what to ask a solicitor for.
What a legal plan usually includes
- A set number of consultations or a block of solicitor time each month
- Review of contracts, supplier terms and employment documents up to an agreed page limit
- Email or phone queries on day-to-day legal questions (usually subject to a fair-use limit)
- A discount on work that falls outside the plan, such as litigation or conveyancing
- A minimum term (often 6–12 months) and a notice period to cancel
Is a legal plan right for you?
A plan suits businesses that have regular legal questions — hiring staff, signing contracts, dealing with suppliers or customers — and want to budget for them. If you only need a one-off document, a single fixed-fee job or a template is usually cheaper.
How to find a solicitor who offers a legal plan
Use the Law Society of Ireland’s Find a Solicitor directory and ask the firm whether it offers a fixed-fee or subscription arrangement. Ask for the terms in writing: what is included, what counts as fair use, the minimum term and the notice period. Only a solicitor holding a current practising certificate can provide legal advice or act for you.
