A basic Will for a married person or civil partner in Ireland sets out who will inherit your estate and who will administer it after your death. This is a digital, self-complete basic Will template for a married person or civil partner with uncomplicated wishes, completed online yourself. It is for people whose affairs are straightforward, for example leaving everything to their spouse or civil partner and then to their children. No solicitor reviews your answers or the finished document at this price.

In Ireland, a surviving spouse or civil partner has a legal right to a share of the estate, which a Will cannot simply override. A Will must also be signed and witnessed correctly to be valid: it should be signed in the presence of two witnesses who are present at the same time, and a witness, or the spouse or civil partner of a witness, should not benefit under the Will. If your affairs are more complex, a solicitor-handled option is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a basic Will cost in Ireland?

This page is a free guide — nothing on it is for sale. Solicitors set their own fees for this work and must give you a written costs estimate (a section 150 letter) before starting. Get quotes through the Law Society of Ireland’s Find a Solicitor directory.

Can I leave my spouse out of my Will in Ireland?

A surviving spouse or civil partner has a legal right share of the estate under Irish law, which applies regardless of the Will unless it has been validly renounced. This template is designed for straightforward situations.

When should I use a solicitor instead?

If you have a business, farm, property abroad, a blended family, or want to leave someone out, a solicitor-handled Will is more suitable.
