Guide only — this matter needs a solicitor. Under Irish law this work must be carried out by a solicitor, so it is not sold on this site. The information below explains what is involved so you can brief a solicitor with confidence.

An Internship Employment Permit application in Ireland is the route for a full-time student who needs to complete a required work placement with an employer in Ireland. This solicitor-handled service is for full-time students completing a required work placement in Ireland, and for the Irish host employers offering those placements. A solicitor works through the application with you so that the information and supporting documents are organised and consistent before submission.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an Internship Employment Permit application cost in Ireland?
This page is a free guide — nothing on it is for sale. Solicitors set their own fees for this work and must give you a written costs estimate (a section 150 letter) before starting. Get quotes through the Law Society of Ireland’s Find a Solicitor directory.
Who is eligible for an Internship Employment Permit?
The permit is for full-time students, including postgraduate students, enrolled at a third-level institution outside Ireland whose course requires a work placement, and who have an internship offer from an employer in Ireland. Either the student or the employer can apply. The permit can issue for a maximum of 12 months and is not renewable.
Can a solicitor guarantee that the permit will be granted?
No. Decisions on employment permits are made by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment. A solicitor can help make sure the application is complete and properly presented, but no outcome can be guaranteed.
