Guide only — this matter needs a solicitor. Under Irish law this work must be carried out by a solicitor, so it is not sold on this site. The information below explains what is involved so you can brief a solicitor with confidence.
OnlineLegalServices.ie is operated by Plus Promotions Limited, which is not a solicitor’s practice and does not give legal advice. To instruct a regulated practice, use the Law Society of Ireland’s Find a Solicitor directory.
Mirror wills in Ireland are two separate wills made by a couple, usually in near-identical terms, so that each leaves their estate to the other and then to the same people. This product provides self-complete mirror will templates for a couple, completed online. No solicitor review is included at this price, so it suits couples with straightforward circumstances who are comfortable preparing and signing their wills themselves.
What’s included
- Self-complete mirror will templates for a couple
- Completed online by you, using your own details
- No solicitor review is included at this price

Frequently asked questions
How much do mirror wills cost in Ireland?
This page is a free guide — nothing on it is for sale. Solicitors set their own fees for this work and must give you a written costs estimate (a section 150 letter) before starting. Get quotes through the Law Society of Ireland’s Find a Solicitor directory.
How do I sign a will so that it is valid in Ireland?
A will must be in writing and signed at the end by the person making it, in the presence of two witnesses who are both present at the same time and who then sign in that person’s presence. A witness, or a witness’s spouse or civil partner, should not be a beneficiary, because a gift to them will generally fail.
Can one of us change a mirror will later?
Yes. Mirror wills are two separate wills, so each person can generally change or revoke their own will at any time while they have capacity, without the other’s agreement. Bear in mind that a spouse or civil partner has a legal right share in the estate under the Succession Act 1965.
